River Description

Bhote Koshi River

Rising from high in Bhot – another name for Tibet – the Bhote Koshi cascades into Nepal through breathtaking valleys. Glacial water from Shishapangma, the fourteenth-highest mountain in the world, carves a steep drop from the top that eases to streams that are more pacific and pools within its 46km run, which ends at the Lamosunga Dam. The rapids here are solid class IV-V at high flow and a classic III at lower levels.

Continuous, challenging and action-packed, the Bhote Koshi offers nothing less than the ride of a lifetime. If you have never rafted before and want an adrenaline-filled introduction to rafting, then this is an ideal package for you.

A stupendous setting, thrilling drops, gorges and limestone formations await you. Your instinct will become your driving force, and your body your best ally. Experienced and novice paddlers will agree this is the ultimate experience.

Detailed itinerary

Day 01
We set off early for Baseri, the rafting starting point. A detailed safety briefing is given before we board the rafts.

On the first day, you will negotiate only grade III rapids i.e. a launching exercise for the first day because the real adventure starts the next day. Today we will also have the opportunity to do some cliff jumping into the river. Lunch will be served halfway through on the beach and at the end of the day, our private transport takes us to the campsite.

Day 02
After breakfast, experience the adrenaline rushes provided by the challenging grade V rapids such as The Great Wall and numerous class IV rapids. If you have time while rafting, try to take in the scenery. The experience ends at Lamosunga Dam, from where private transport will take us back to Katmandu.

The rafting program is – because of weather or unforeseen events – subject to change.
